Trackman’s headquarters, situated in the DTU Science Park, combines a campus setting with the energy of a “Deep Tech” research hub. Surrounded by rolling, forested terrain, the building is designed for openness, light, and a constant connection to nature.
The two main volumes are shaped with subtle projections and recesses to harmonize with the landscape. The building is conceived as a split-level structure, with the two main elements offset to follow the natural slope of the terrain and to allow for visual connections between the floors. The ground floor’s horizontal brick base anchors it to the site, while the upper glass façades with vertical shading slats echo the surrounding tree trunks, filtering sunlight into soft, shifting patterns.
Approaching along a causeway that highlights the building’s sculptural independence, visitors enter a light-filled atrium that serves as its social heart. A column-and-beam structure allows for flexible, non-load-bearing façades. Robust brick is contrasted by glass and timber details for durability, adaptability, and timeless elegance.
Inside, workspaces face both the surrounding forest and the atrium, creating visual connections between floors and encouraging collaboration. The plan layout is dynamic, with spatial variations throughout, framing views and revealing a diverse landscape of interior spaces.
Materials such as Kolumba brick, sandstone, and solid oak floors, combined with plastered acoustic ceilings featuring diffuse ventilation, demonstrate a consistent focus on quality and comfort throughout the building.
The integration of geothermal heating and cooling with solar panels represents an innovative approach to sustainability, significantly reducing operational energy use.
