Project description: Youth housing and kindergarten

The office building from 1987 was converted to a kindergarten for 6 groups of children on the ground floor and 69 student flats on the upper levels. Through an innovative fire strategy it was possible to create spatial variation and maximize the play area in the kindergarten. Holes were cut in the existing concrete facade for large ‘greeting’ bay windows and an improved connection between inside and outside. Additional openings were also created onto the playground at the rear of the building. The 69 student flats on the upper levels vary from one to two bedrooms, all with their own bath and kitchen.
