PISTOLSTRÆDE AND CITY TORVET
Project description: Passage. façade, restaurant and square
Location: Pistolstræde, Copenhagen
Client: Kirkbi
Gross floor area: 600 m²
Year of construction: 2022
For many years, the historic passage of Pistolstræde—home to some of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings—remained largely hidden from the city, accessible only through narrow gateways at either end.
The project opens the charming passage to the public with a new pedestrian connection through an existing building. A restaurant at the entrance is distinguished by a curved glass façade that creates a strong identity while drawing life into the passage. Above, the existing façade is reinterpreted with new tombak cladding featuring a delicate embossed relief, adding texture and depth to the historic setting.
